What Gavel is

Gavel is a permissionless, oracle-free credit market on Arbitrum. Borrowers post Bitcoin (WBTC) as collateral and describe the loan they want; lenders compete in an open auction to offer the best terms, and the lowest repayment wins. There are no price oracles, no utilisation curves, and no governance vote deciding what a loan should cost — only the market clearing in front of you. Active positions trade on a secondary marketplace, so capital is not locked once committed.

02 · Structure

Entity separation

The Gavel ecosystem is three distinct layers. They are deliberately separate:

Jamie Frame

A natural person. Author of the Gavel Protocol, personally, open-source under MIT.

Holds the admin keys today, under a stated policy of progressive renunciation — control is handed back to the protocol over time.

The Gavel Protocol

Autonomous contracts, permissionless, with no operating entity.

Anyone can use it without permission; no intermediary is required to borrow, lend, or trade.

Aletheia Analytics SASU

The commercial operator. It publishes the data and operates the protocol's commercial surfaces.

It runs two separate properties: thegavel.io, this one, for participation in this venue — and The Bitcoin Credit Stack, which measures the Bitcoin-collateralised credit markets and where Gavel is one venue among many.
